The scheduled power outage is required to complete work on the new Grant Street Substation, scheduled to begin operation in Spring 2026.
During this time, Consumers Energy will be installing and connecting new 46 kV power lines from their existing system to poles that will serve the City's new substation. This important project will strengthen the electric system and prepare for future growth.
