Potential Power Shortages Across Michigan

In late April, the Mid-Continent Independent System Operator (MISO) warned of the possibility of power shortages, causing possible brownouts, this summer during times of peak demand.

Summertime Energy Conservation Tips

As the thermometer rises the price and demand for energy goes up also. In response to weather predictions, the City of Portland is reminding customers to consider voluntarily reducing energy use during peak summertime hours (Monday-Friday from 2-7 p.m.)  
The easiest way to lower energy demand, is to reduce usage of air conditioners and major appliances (clothes washer, clothes dryer, dishwasher, hot water heater, oven).
