NOTICE TO REGISTERED ELECTORS
NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR CITY COUNCIL
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, nominating petitions for candidates for the office of City Council (3 vacancies) will be available at the office of the City Clerk on Monday, June 16, 2025. Petitions require between 25 and 50 signatures by registered voters of the City of Portland. The City Council Election will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Candidates for elective office in the City of Portland must have the following qualifications:
- Must be a qualified and registered elector of the City of Portland.
- Must have been a resident of the City of Portland for at least one year.
- Must not be in default to the City of Portland.
At the time of filing, an affidavit stating qualifications and proof of citizenship must also be filed. Failure to file such affidavit shall invalidate the petition.
Petition forms and additional information may be obtained at the City Clerk’s office, 259 Kent St., Portland, Michigan, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
THE DEADLINE TO FILE SUCH PETITIONS IS 4:00 P.M. ON TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2025, AT THE CITY CLERK’S OFFICE.
